Eluru district records 91.6% polling for MLC election
Eluru: District Election Officer and District Collector K Vettri Selvi said that polling for the MLC election of the Teachers’ Constituency of the combined East and West Godavari districts was conducted peacefully in Eluru district on Thursday. He visited the polling booths set up at Government Degree College, Chataparu Zilla Parishad High School, Kota Dibba. On this occasion, the Collector said that polling was held from 8 am to 4 pm at 20 polling booths in the district. Out of a total of 2,667 voters in the district, 2,443 exercised their franchise, including 1387 men and 1,056 women. The teacher voters, who have the right to vote in the district, exercised their franchise in a peaceful atmosphere. He said that 91.60 percent polling was recorded in the district. A special control room has also been set up at Eluru Collectorate to monitor the polling pattern. After the polling, the ballot boxes will be taken to the strong room in Kakinada under tight security. Due to the collective efforts of the concerned district officials, police department officials, employees, election officers and employees, the elections were conducted peacefully.
