Encounter between security forces and Naxalites in Jharkhand’s Kolhan, deputy commandant injured
Ranchi (IANS). An encounter is going on between police and Naxalites in Goilkera forest of Kolhan area of Jharkhand. In this, Deepak Kumar Tiwari, a deputy commandant of CRPF’s Cobra Battalion, has been shot. He has been airlifted to Ranchi for treatment.
It was told that a contingent of police and CRPF had left for the search operation in Panchaltaburu forest of Chaibasa on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Maoist Naxalites, who had ambushed, started firing on them. Deputy Commandant Deepak Kumar was shot in the hand. In response, the soldiers of the security forces also fired. There is no official statement about the encounter yet.
Let us tell you that the security forces are continuously campaigning against the Maoist Naxalites in the forests of Kolhan. On July 7, security forces recovered three IEDs and 18 spike holes. The Naxalites have laid large-scale landmines in the area to stop the security forces. So far ten villagers have died due to their grip. About a dozen security forces personnel have also been injured in blast incidents in the last eight months.
