EOU raids premises of Executive Engineer Arvind Kumar Chaudhary in Bihar.

In a crackdown on corruption in Bihar, the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) conducted raids on Thursday at multiple premises linked to Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, an Executive Engineer posted in the Minor Water Resources Department, Sasaram. EOU teams simultaneously raided six locations across Patna, Muzaffarpur, Sasaram, and Banka. Preliminary investigations are examining allegations that the officer possesses assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
According to reports, Arvind Kumar Chaudhary serves as an Executive Engineer in the Bihar Minor Water Resources Department. During the course of complaints and inquiries, the EOU learned that he had amassed significant movable and immovable assets over his approximately 12-year government career. Consequently, the EOU initiated an investigation and, upon finding sufficient grounds, obtained court permission to conduct the raids.
On Thursday morning, separate EOU teams arrived at multiple locations simultaneously to launch search operations. Officials stated that during the raids, they are examining documents related to assets, bank account details, investment papers, property records, and other crucial documents. The team is working to determine the extent of assets acquired by the officer in excess of his declared income.
EOU officials explained that in cases involving disproportionate assets, a comparison is made between a government official’s legitimate income, expenditures, and acquired assets. Arvind Kumar Chaudhary’s assets and financial transactions are being scrutinized under this process. Further action will be determined based on the documents recovered during the raids.
It is reported that, in addition to the officer’s residence in Patna and other premises, the investigating agency also searched locations in Muzaffarpur, Sasaram, and Banka. EOU teams are thoroughly examining documents and other materials at all these sites. The agency is also investigating whether the assets are held in the officer’s name or were purchased in the names of other family members.
