EOW summons received only in the morning, no flight threat: Ashneer Grover
New Delhi: BharatPe co-founder and managing director Ashneer Grover on Friday said he received a summons from the Delhi Police Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) on Friday morning and will follow the process to lift the Look Out Circular (LOC) against him. Since he’s not a “flight risk”.
Explaining the series of events that led to him being stopped from boarding a flight to New York from the New Delhi International Airport late on Thursday night, Grover said he had planned to visit the US from November 16-23.
He posted on Twitter, “In immigration, they said LOC is in place sir – check with EOW and tell.”
“I found it strange because I have traveled internationally four times since the FIR was filed in May, never had any problems and was not summoned even once. Anyway, the flight left in the meantime,” Grover added.
According to him, the EOW instructed the immigration to “let us out so that we can return home.”
“This morning, the EOW summons were delivered home. Will cooperate as always. There is a process to remove LoC. I’m not a flight risk, it’s easy to prove,” he posted.
Earlier, Ashneer Grover and his wife Madhuri Jain Grover were stopped at Delhi International Airport under the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against them.
Confirming the news, Joint Commissioner of Police (EOW), Sindhu Pillai, said they were stopped at the airport on Thursday night on the LOC issued by the EOW, while refusing to share more details due to the ongoing investigation. .
The nature of the investigation or the specific charges against Grover and Jain have not been disclosed yet.
Recently, the Delhi Police had submitted a status report in the High Court in which it had implicated co-founder Ashneer and his family members in financial irregularities in the operations of BharatPe and questionable practices including use of backdated invoices to channel funds. Was accused of.
According to the report, eight HR consulting firms linked to Ashneer’s family, such as True Work Company, Team Source and Impulse Marketing, filed bills with closed bank accounts, indicating possible fabrication of invoices.
The report notes that these separate entities share the same registered address, raising concerns about their legitimacy and independence, potentially indicating a conflict of interest.
“The use of backdated invoices not only raises issues of financial irregularity but also raises questions on the transparency and accountability of BharatPe’s financial operations,” the report said.
Meanwhile, Ashneer posted: “Jatt mareya taad maniye jad terami hove (Don’t declare me dead till 13 days after burning me on the pyre).”
