Europe’s car sales rise

World World: Tesla sales in Europe fell 28.2% in March compared to a year earlier, while sales of battery electric vehicles (EVs) rose 23.6%, data released by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) showed. However, overall new car sales rose 2.8%, led by double-digit growth in sales in Britain and Spain.

European carmakers are facing competition from China and the 25% import duty imposed by US President Donald Trump is also creating problems for the industry.

In March, 1.42 million cars were sold in the European Union, Britain and the European Free Trade Association. During this period, sales of electric and hybrid cars increased significantly, while sales of petrol and diesel cars declined.
