Excise department raided the forest, destroyed a big den of illegal liquor
Sarangarh-Bilaigarh. In the context of the upcoming assembly elections, major action has been taken by the Excise Department today after the introduction of the code of conduct in compliance with the instructions given by Collector and District Election Officer Dr. Fariha Alam Siddiqui to take action against illegal liquor.
Sarangarh in-charge Excise Sub-Inspector Vikas Pal Sande received information from an informer that illegal liquor was being manufactured in large quantities in the forests of Gudeli on the banks of river Lat. As soon as the information was received, the Excise staff crossed the river by boat and reached the forest, where 90 liters of Mahua liquor was found filled in 09 polythene bags of ten liter capacity, 15 liters of Mahua liquor was filled in a plastic bucket of 15 liter capacity and a bladder-shaped polythene inside a plastic sack. A total of 125 liters of Mahua liquor (worth Rs 25,000) including 20 liters of Mahua liquor and a total of 1000 kilograms of Mahua Lahan (worth Rs 50,000) including 25-25 kg Mahua Lahan in each of 40 plastic sacks were recovered, along with this, illegal liquor manufacturing was done. The material was also confiscated.
