FIR against ministry & firm officials for Mandi accident
The police today booked officials of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) and Surya Construction Company for a road accident in Mandi district in which two youths died on the spot.
The accident occurred on Sunday night at Pulghrat near Mandi town on the Chandigarh-Manali highway when a motorcycle collided with the Tempo Traveller coming from the opposite side. Both the victims, travelling on a motorcycle, were identified as Lalit Kumar and Harish Kumar, both natives of Mandi.
Mandi ASP Sagar Chander said, “During investigation it was found that the hilltop, where accident took place, was dug for construction of a road, which led to this major mishap. There were boulders and muck on the road and no signage had been put up thee to caution travellers. So, the police have booked Hani Thakur, a site engineer of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Sumit Saha, project manager and Manoj Kumar, Supervisor of Surya Construction Company and sub-contractor Ganesh Sharma under IPC 304A, 337, 283 and section of motor vehicle act 198A.”
The ASP said that investigation was underway in this case.
