Flights to Surat from Biju Patnaik Airport soon
Bhubaneswar: The new terminal connecting building at Biju Patnaik International Airport is expected to be operational by New Year 2024, Biju Patnaik International Airport Director Prasanna Pradhan said.
The airport authorities have applied for security clearance and an SOP will be prepared once the approval is received. All work is done after consultation with the people concerned. Officials will hold meetings with CISF teams, Customs, airlines and immigration officials.
The airport manager said that the construction work of the new terminal connecting building has been completed and new flights to Surat, Dehradun, Chandigarh and Jammu will start soon and the process has started.
Airlines have been asked to provide slots in Surat, Gujarat. The airport manager said that till now Bhubaneswar airport has connectivity with 21 cities.
At the same time, the second flight between Bhubaneswar and Jeypore (Koraput) will start on 6 November. This service is available twice a week on Monday and Friday.
Ahmedabad-based India One Air will launch its second flight service under the Udaan regional connectivity programme. The company has given this information through an “X” post.
The company said the flight was sponsored by the Odisha government.
The flight will take off at 7:10 am on Monday and reach Jaipur at 8:45 am. On Friday, the flight will take off from Bhubaneswar at 9:00 am and reach Jeypore at 10:35 am. The starting fare of this air service is Rs 10. 2999.
