According to the scriptures, the time of Navratri is considered very sacred, hence during this time the atmosphere of the house should be kept positive and also worship and aarti should be performed in the morning and evening at home, by doing this one gets the blessings of the mother. Apart from this, broken idols of Gods and Goddesses should also not be kept in the house because it spreads negativity which causes troubles. In such a situation, before Navratri, you should immerse the broken idols in water from the house.
Apart from this, one should not keep old torn shoes and slippers in the house during Navratri, doing so increases the domestic troubles, in such a situation, it would be better to throw them out of the house before Navratri. During the days of Shardiya Navratri, one should consume only satvik food. During this time one should also avoid eating meat, alcohol and garlic and onion, otherwise the Mother Goddess may get angry.
