Following action by the MBMC and the Animal Husbandry Department, a housing society in Mira Road lifted the ban on feeding animals.

Maharashtra: A housing society in Mira Road has lifted a sudden ban on feeding animals within the society premises, marking a significant victory for animal rights and local volunteers. The move came after two stern notices from the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) and the District Animal Husbandry Department, which deemed the society’s actions illegal and cruel.
Residents complained of harassment and illegal signboards
Some animal-loving residents of Man Opus Society in Mira Road (East) wrote to the MBMC complaining that the society’s managing committee was harassing feeders, blocking pathways, and putting up illegal signboards prohibiting the feeding of animals within the society.
These boards prohibited residents from littering, smoking, spitting, and speeding within the society compound, and also banned feeding dogs, cats, or pigeons, and preventing animals from soiling the premises.
