Food department seized paddy worth 85 lakhs, major action taken on rice mill

Bilaspur. In Bilaspur, the Food Department has taken major action for not depositing custom milling rice within the stipulated time. The department has seized 3 thousand 400 quintals of paddy worth Rs 85 lakh after irregularities were found in the rice mill. In fact, the collector has given instructions to take strict action against the rice millers if custom milling rice is not deposited, after which the department has taken this first action.

In the past, Collector Saurabh Kumar took a meeting of the officers of the Food Department and took information about custom milling rice. During this, the officers told that most of the rice millers of the district are making chaos with the paddy purchased at the support price and are not depositing custom milling rice. On this, he instructed the officers to check the rice mill and do physical verification.
