Forest officer and driver injured in Scorpio accident.
Korba. In a road accident early Sunday morning in the Pasan police station area of the district, Pasan Forest Ranger Manish Singh and his driver were seriously injured. Their speeding Scorpio vehicle went out of control and crashed into a tree on the roadside.
The accident occurred when Ranger Manish Singh and his driver had gone to the Pipariya area after receiving information about the presence of elephants. They had advised the villagers to stay away from the elephants and not to provoke them. After the elephant monitoring team tracked the elephants and chased them back into the forest, the ranger and his driver were returning to the office. During their return journey, their vehicle went out of control and collided with a tree. The collision was so severe that the front of the Scorpio was completely damaged. Ranger Manish sustained serious injuries to his chest and arm, while the driver also suffered injuries. With the help of passersby, both injured men were immediately taken to the community health center.
After receiving first aid, the ranger was referred to Bilaspur for better treatment. It is reported that the herd of elephants includes a baby elephant, which is making them more aggressive. These elephants are continuously roaming in the area and damaging farmers’ crops, forcing the local people to stay awake at night to guard their fields.
