Former Forest Minister Shiv Netam passes away
Raipur. Former Forest Minister Shiv Netam has passed away. Let us tell you that Shiv Netam became the former Forest Minister during the Congress rule in Madhya Pradesh and with the guidance of Digvijay Singh, Shiv Netam had given a new turn to his political journey. Shiv Netam was the younger brother of former Union Minister Arvind Netam. Former MLA from Kanker and also Forest Minister from Kanker during the Chief Ministership of Digvijay Singh in Madhya Pradesh Government. Kanker was a resident of village Dabena in district.
Shiv Netam, a prominent Congress leader of Kanker district and Bastar division and Forest Minister during the Congress rule in undivided Madhya Pradesh, passed away suddenly. He was ill for a few days and was being treated at MMI Hospital in Raipur, where he breathed his last some time back. From MMI Hospital, he will be taken from Raipur to his home village Biranpur in Kanker district on Tuesday and his last rites will be performed there.
Shiv Netam, a strong leader of Kanker district and Bastar division and Forest Minister in Congress during Madhya Pradesh government, is no more. On December 26, he had an attack at his Mahurbandapara residence in Kanker, after which he was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Raipur. From Raipur he will be taken to his home village Biranpur in Kanker district and the last rites will be performed there.
Let us tell you that in 1990 he had contested elections from Keshkal seat. Where they had to face defeat. In 1993, he was elected MLA from Kanker assembly seat of undivided Madhya Pradesh. He was made Forest Minister in Digvijay Singh’s government. However, he had to face defeat in the 1998 assembly elections. His elder brother Arvind Netam had resigned from the Congress party before the assembly elections.
