Nagaland government’s decision: Drones banned near military camps in Mon district

Dimapur: Nagaland’s Mon district administration on Wednesday banned the flying of drones or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over or near military establishments and other sensitive installations with immediate effect and until further notice.

In an order, Mon District Magistrate Wennyei Konyak directed all citizens, residents, visitors, organisations, and media personnel to strictly refrain from flying, operating, or using drones/UAVs in and around Assam Rifles camps, military establishments, and other restricted, sensitive, and notified areas within the district.

The order was issued following complaints by the Assam Rifles that unauthorised/civil drone activities had been observed in and around the Assam Rifles camp area in the district, posing a serious threat to security, public order, and safety.

Konyak further stated that any person found violating the order will be liable for legal action, and such drones will be neutralised, jammed, or confiscated by security agencies as deemed necessary
