Former Jhanji HS School Principal Pushpadhar Gogoi remembered
Gaurisagar: Pushpadhar Gogoi, a resident of Jhanji Hanchara Changmai village and retired principal of Jhanji HS School, passed away recently. On Wednesday, on the eve of his cremation, Smriti Charan Sabha was organized at his residence. The meeting was presided over by Jhanjhi Press Club President and social worker Gopal Barouh. On this occasion, Sarapator Subhash, a souvenir on the life and work of renowned educationist Pushpadhar Gogoi, edited by Rajeev Dutta, was unveiled by Khagen Phukan, former professor of CKB College.
The meeting was attended by Jhanji HS School’s former vice principal Beena Barua, former school teacher Nirupoma Neog, educationist’s family members Hemo Gogoi, Poresh Dutta (care taker) Cheniram Barua, Dr. Arindom Protim Konwar (grandson). The contribution of eminent educationists towards the field of education as well as the society was highlighted.
Apart from his alumni, former president of All Assam HS Teachers and Employees Association Himadrijyoti Dutta, former president of ACTA Jyoti Prasad Gogoi, Karuna Mahant were present in the meeting and spoke about the prolific life and work of veteran teacher Pushpadhar Gogoi. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Pallavi Konwar, elder daughter of Pushpadhar Gogoi. Before the meeting, Cheniram Barua, former principal of Dhakuakhona Boys HS School and the educationist’s family members lit the lamp in front of the portrait of educationist Pushpadhar Gogoi.
