Telangana. Former MLA Akula Rajender, former MLC Magam Ranga Reddy and former DCCB president Lakshma Reddy joined BJP in the presence of Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy.
In a blow to TPCC chief A Revanth Reddy, several Congress leaders including former MLA Akula Rajender and former MLC M Rangareddy are likely to join the BJP soon. According to sources, four leaders of the Congress party will join the BJP. Along with these two leaders, two other former MPs Baga Reddy’s son Jaipal Reddy and Tandoor Municipality’s ex-chairman Lakshma Reddy are also set to join the party.

Akula Rajender has been an MLA from Malkajgiri assembly constituency in the party. He met BJP national vice-president DK Aruna, Telangana chief G Kishan Reddy along with Rangareddy, a follower of former undivided Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, and discussed prospects in the party. Interestingly, Akula Rajender has been an MLA from the constituency that falls under the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha, which is currently represented by Revanth Reddy.
Baga Reddy was an MP from Zaheerabad and his son Jaipal Reddy also wants to contest from this seat. It is learned that Japal Reddy has been given the go-ahead to prepare for the next Lok Sabha elections from Zaheerabad constituency. Similarly, Lakshma Reddy, who was expecting a ticket from Tandur assembly constituency, was also assured of a ticket from the BJP. Party leaders said they would join the BJP in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is visiting the state on July 29.
