Former MLC leaves BRS, 2 municipal presidents join Congress
Hyderabad. In another blow to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), former MLC Akula Lalitha and two municipal presidents resigned from the party on Monday, while presidents of Huzurnagar and Bodhan municipalities joined the Congress party.
Lalitha also announced her resignation from the post of chairperson of Telangana State Women’s Cooperative Development Corporation Limited.
She will meet her supporters and workers on Tuesday to decide her future strategy.
Lalita, who left Congress and joined BRS just before the 2018 elections, is set to rejoin the Congress party. She is said to be seeking the party ticket from Nizamabad Urban constituency.
Meanwhile, Huzurnagar municipality president Archana Ravi Geli also resigned from BRS and joined Congress. Along with him, three councilors also resigned from the ruling party.
They all joined the Congress party in the presence of former Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Uttam Kumar Reddy, who will contest the assembly elections from Huzurnagar constituency next month.
Bodhan municipality president T Padmavathi has also resigned from BRS. She joined the Congress party in the presence of TPCC president A Revanth Reddy.
BRS leaders from Bodhan and Kodangal also joined the Congress, while BRS leader Neelam Madhu Mudiraj left the party. The Patancheru constituency leader said he was given a raw deal despite serving the party for 10 years. He alleged that BRS has not done justice to the Mudiraj community.
In another important development, Revanth Reddy met former minister and BRS leader Mandava Venkateshwara Rao and invited him to join the Congress party. He later met Venkateswara Rao along with former minister and BRS leader Revuri Prakash Reddy and invited him to join the Congress party.
