Former TCS employee made bomb threat call in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: Tension prevailed at the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) office in Bengaluru’s Electronic City after a caller claimed that a bomb had been planted in their premises. The incident came to light on Tuesday, following which employees were immediately evacuated from the office premises after receiving a bomb threat.
The woman making the call was identified as a former employee of the company. Angered by TCS’s dismissal from his job, he had called the company’s driver and told him that a bomb had been planted in B Block of the campus.
After receiving the information, the police along with the bomb disposal squad inspected the area but nothing was found. The threat was later dismissed as a rumour. The woman is reportedly a native of Belagavi district of the state.
In a similar incident in May this year, a bomb threat at TCS Hyderabad had sent officials into a tizzy. The call from an unknown caller had prompted authorities to immediately evacuate around 1,500 employees from the company premises.
After which, Madhapur police swung into action after company officials alerted them about the danger. The bomb disposal unit later confirmed that the threat was a hoax.
