Foundation Day of Assam and Nagaland states celebrated at Raj Bhavan

Raipur. The Foundation Day of the states of Assam and Nagaland was celebrated with colorful cultural programs at Raj Bhavan today. Governor Shri Vishwabhushan Harichandan said on this occasion that different areas of our country have different cultures and traditions. Despite their diversity, we are one and are giving the message of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” to the world.
Under the “Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat” program of the Central Government, all the states celebrate each other’s foundation day to promote the spirit of unity in diversity. In this sequence, the foundation day of the states of Assam and Nagaland was celebrated at Raj Bhavan. The Governor congratulated the people of these states on the occasion of Foundation Day.

In his address, the Governor said that on the occasion of the foundation day of these two wonderful states, it is important for us to know more about their rich history, wonderful culture and their hopes and dreams. He underlined the characteristics of the state of Assam and Nagaland. Assam is known for its diverse wildlife and beautiful Brahmaputra River, world famous Shaktipeeth Kamakhya Devi Temple, Kanjiranga National Park etc. This state is a meeting place of diverse cultures. It also has a rich cultural heritage which includes music, dance, art and literature. The invigorating aroma of the tea here has spread all over the world.
Shri Harichandan said that Nagaland, situated amidst beautiful mountains, is called Switzerland of the East. One feels like celebrating life in this state full of vibrant colors and stories of bravery. Nagaland is a state of many tribes, each of which has its own unique culture and traditions. The strength and determination of the Naga people can be seen in their unity and simplicity.
Shri Harichandan further said that Assam and Nagaland are two states with different culture and past. But the residents of both the states equally aspire for progress and development. The celebration of this Foundation Day is also an occasion to remember the important contributions made by them towards our nation.

Rafikul Mandal as representative of Assam state and Ranjana Das as representative of Nagaland also addressed the program. On this occasion, students of various universities gave colorful presentations of folk dances of both the states including Bihu dance of Assam. Assamese soldiers of CRPF enthralled all the guests by performing Bihu dance. The Governor honored the representatives of both the states by wearing Raj Gamchha and presenting mementos. He also honored the Governor by wearing a shawl. Raj Bhavan Deputy Secretary Deepak Aggarwal gave vote of thanks in the programme. Secretary to the Governor, Amrit Khalkho, representatives of both the states were present in large numbers in the programme.
