Four arrested in connection with the murder of an elderly man in Guwahati
Guwahati (IANS). The Assam Police has arrested four people for their involvement in the murder of an elderly man going to a mosque in Guwahati. Officials gave this information on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Javed Ali and the incident took place on July 27 in Hatigaon area of the city.
While three suspects Darog Ali, Mahibul Islam and Noor Mohammad were arrested during a police operation in Baghbor area of Barpeta district. A fourth accused named “Boga” was taken into custody from Tetelirtal.
According to the police, Darog Ali was arrested on the basis of credible information. After questioning him, the other three were caught.
The reason behind the broad day murder is yet to be ascertained.
The horrific attack took place on Friends Path, barely 100 meters from Hathigaon Police Station.
According to the police, the attack was carried out by ambush.
