Fraudster arrested for duping several youths of over Rs 59 lakh in Odisha’s Balasore
Cuttack: In a recent development, the Cuttack Cyber Police apprehended an individual for defrauding several young individuals by falsely promising them job opportunities, according to credible reports. The accused allegedly swindled more than Rs 59 lakhs from these individuals by deceitfully guaranteeing employment at Indian Railways and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).
An official statement from the Cuttack Cyber Police identified the suspect as Santosh Mohanty, a resident of Balaram Nagar in Odisha’s Balasore district, within the jurisdiction of the Baliapal police station.
According to reliable sources, the arrest followed a complaint filed at the Baranga police station in Cuttack. Subsequent investigations revealed that Mohanty had defrauded numerous individuals of over Rs 59 lakhs. It was reported that he would assure individuals of job placements by presenting them with a fabricated selection list of candidates.
During the apprehension, law enforcement confiscated a laptop, 18 debit cards, two PAN cards, eight mobile phones, 13 SIM cards, hard disks, pen drives, and two forged certificates purportedly from members of DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organization), as well as vigilance-related materials from Santosh Mohanty.
