Fresh snow blanketed Doda district
Doda: Bhaderwah area of Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir received fresh snowfall on Friday. With the tourism season approaching, snow removal work is also going to start on a large scale in Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, snow removal operation was launched by the Border Roads Organization (BRO) on Tangdhar Road in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Speaking to ANI on the fresh snowfall in the district on Friday, Bhaderwah tehsildar Umar Jahanzeb said, ‘Since the tourist season is about to start and snowfall will play a major role in attracting tourists, we will try to clear the roads. He said, “I have come here to take stock of the situation. The work of clearing the roads will start soon.”
Earlier on Thursday, fresh snowfall occurred in Gulmarg, the world famous tourist and skiing destination in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The snow laden mountains, trees and bare branches adorned with snow attracted visitors from different parts of the country. Kashmir Valley and higher reaches of Ladakh have witnessed fresh snowfall, while the plains have faced heavy rainfall.
Temperatures across the valley have dropped significantly due to climate change.
Snowfall season in Kashmir starts in December and continues till February.
The upper mountains of Kashmir received the first snowfall of the season in late September this year (2023).
