From Save the Date to honeymoon trip: Anil Balachandran invites application for marriage of underprivileged girls

ALAPPUZHA: Motivational speaker Anil Balachandran has announced an initiative to conduct marriages for five underprivileged young women on January 1, 2025. This is an annual event, named Durga Sumangali Bhava, led by Balachandran. He made this announcement on his Facebook page, inviting applications from eligible candidates.

Balachandran noted that he has been inviting applications for the past three days but has received only one application so far. He urged his followers to share the post with anyone who might know eligible candidates, emphasizing that there are many parents who might not be aware of the initiative due to limited access to social media.

“Thousands of parents among us are worried about their daughter’s marriage. Sometimes they may not use social media. But if the ward councilors try, this will happen easily. We have to find them. I want to help,” Balachandran wrote on Facebook.

The initiative will provide the brides with five sovereigns of gold ornaments each, wedding dresses for both the bride and groom, beautician services, an auditorium, photography and videography, wedding attire for the bride’s parents and a wedding reception for 5000 people. Additionally, the couple will receive a honeymoon trip. He assured that no identifying information or photos of the bride, groom or their families will be made public.
