Ganja worth Rs 2.5 crore found in rice vehicle, driver and helper absconding
Mahasamund. Chhattisgarh Police has once again taken major action against drugs in Mahasamund district. Pithora Police and Cyber Cell have seized a truck filled with huge quantity of ganja on National Highway 53. Police have recovered 517 kg of ganja from the truck, the value of which is estimated at Rs 2 crore 76 lakh.
According to the information, Pithora police received information from the informer that a huge quantity of ganja was being smuggled in truck number CG 04 JC 2783, after which, on the behest of the informer, the police laid siege near National Highway 53 Tappa Sevaiya to catch the smugglers. During this time the smugglers got wind of the police siege. After which the driver of the truck and his companion fled leaving the truck near a dhaba on the highway.
According to the police, the smugglers were hiding ganja under Khanda rice in the truck. When the police personnel searched the truck, they were shocked. In this matter, Pithora police has registered a case against the unknown truck driver under the Narcotic Act and has started searching for the accused.
