Ganja worth Rs 50 lakh found loaded in Swift car, police foiled smuggling

Mahasamund: Basna police team has arrested a vicious interstate ganja smuggler and recovered 1 quintal of ganja worth Rs 50 lakh from his possession. The accused has been arrested near Chhattisgarh Orissa Padampur Marg CT Ground. The accused Dinesh Kesarwani is a resident of Madhya Pradesh who was coming to Chhattisgarh from Orissa with ganja, against whom action is being taken under sections of the NDPS Act. Incidents of ganja smuggling are continuously coming to light in Chhattisgarh and Orissa border areas. Smugglers easily carry out ganja smuggling incidents from Orissa border to Basna via Padampur route, while the local police team is also engaged in constant surveillance on these routes.

Information was received from the informer that a person was coming from Orissa via Padampur route with a large quantity of ganja. Immediately, a blockade was set up by the police near Basna City Ground and the Swift car coming from Orissa was stopped and searched in which 1 quintal of ganja worth Rs 50 lakh was recovered. Further action is being taken against the accused.
