Gautam Gambhir Dedicates T20 World Cup Win To Dravid And Laxman

Mumbai: India has won the 2026 T20 World Cup. It is historic for India to win the T20 World Cup for the third time. Gautam Gambhir has fulfilled his responsibilities as the coach of Team India for the latest tournament. Gambhir has brilliantly shaped the Indian team led by Suryakumar Yadav. In fact, even though Gambhir has been criticized for his coaching style.. he has not changed his strategy. He has given opportunities to batsmen like Abhishek again and again and encouraged them. He has made changes in the team at crucial stages. He selected Sanju Samson, who won the Man of the Series award, to the final team at the right time. He taught the players advanced techniques and made the Indian team strong. However, after the final match on Sunday, Gambhir spoke in a press conference. He said that he is dedicating the World Cup to two former cricketers.
Gambhir said that he is not responsible for those who make social media comments, but he worked responsibly for the 30 people in the change room. Gambhir said that the better a team is, the better the coach will be, and that the players made him a coach. However, on this occasion, he remembered his seniors. Gambhir remembered Dravid, who was the coach when the Indian team won the T20 World Cup in 2024. He also remembered VVS Laxman, who is currently the head of the BCCI Center of Excellence. Gambhir said that he will dedicate this trophy to Dravid and Laxman. Gambhir said that this trophy will go to Rahul Dravid for taking the team to a certain level and Laxman for grooming the players at the Centre of Excellence.
Gambhir also thanked chief selector Ajit Agarkar and ICC chairman Jaysha. He said that Ajit Agarkar had to face a lot of criticism because of him, but he treated him very calmly. He said that Jaysha called him and gave him courage when the Kiwis lost the series against South Africa. India won the one-sided final by 96 runs. Batting first, India scored 255 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. However, the Kiwis could only score 159 runs in the chase.
Coach Gambhir said that we should let go of the fear of losing, play cricket constructively, and even if we are all out for 120 runs, we should play with courage. With that courage, the team scored 250 runs in the semis and finals. Gambhir also praised Suryakumar, who worked with him. He said that Suryakumar made his job easy, and that he is a leader, and that we should celebrate trophies and not personal milestones. Gambhir said that we have celebrated personal milestones for many years, but now such personal celebrations should stop.
