Goa: Curchorem residents demand immediate repair of Goa-Belagavi road
Quepem: Frustrated with the pitiful condition of the Belagavi road from Goa to Ramnagar, residents of Curchorem submitted a memorandum to Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.
The memorandum initiated by Aditya Desai pointed out that this is an important road between Goa and Belagavi and demanded its immediate repair.
Business persons, especially traders, travelers and locals using this road have been facing innumerable difficulties for quite some time now due to huge potholes, uneven surface and overall crumbling infrastructure, which poses a threat to pedestrians including its users. Causing serious danger to users.
The memorandum, signed by several people, details the difficulties faced by people and urges the authorities to restore the road as soon as possible.
Aditya Desai said, “We took the trouble to convey the complaints of the local people to the central government and we are confident that Minister Nitin Gadkari will give priority to repairing this road.”
Meanwhile, another delegation of villagers led by St. Andre MLA Viresh Borkar met Gadkari demanding resolution of the Bhoma bypass issue.
The villagers stressed their demand for a bypass and said that the existing road stretch of the Ponda-Panaji highway should not be widened.
The third delegation on the issue of the Pedame-Mapusa junction was led by Aldona MLA Advocate Carlos Álvares Ferreira.
The delegation included Mapusa councilors Tarak and Vikas Arolkar, Cosmos Lobo, Satyawan D Bhosale, Vishwas Bhobe, Prabhakar Gavas, Neha V Bhobe, Dnyaneshwar Wagankar, Stephen Coutinho, Melvin D’Souza, Johnny Lobo, Dilip Aldonkar and Armando Ferreira Alvares. A memorandum was given to the Union Minister demanding a flyover or underpass to reduce the problems at the junction.
Advocate Ferreira said, “I thank Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for supporting our demand and informing us that this is an important issue that needs attention.”
