Goa News: Kul Mundkar cases will be resolved expeditiously, CM assures

Panaji: Acknowledging that Kul Mundkar cases have been pending for the last 62 years since liberation, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said Kul Mundkar cases will be expedited.

“We have observed that even 62 years after the liberation of Goa from Portuguese rule, total Mundkar cases are still pending. However, the government is trying to resolve those cases and they will now be resolved on a fast track. These issues will be resolved soon,” the Chief Minister said during his address on the occasion of Goa Liberation Day held at Goa University grounds, Talegao.

He said, in an effort to address the concerns related to tenant and Mundkar cases, the government is taking several measures and initiatives to expedite the resolution of cases and bring timely and satisfactory conclusion.

The Chief Minister announced that the second lane of Zuari Bridge will be inaugurated on 22 December 2023.

Sawant also announced that the foundation stone of the revolving restaurant on the new Zuari Bridge to be built at a cost of Rs 270 million and the Porvorim elevated road to be built at a cost of Rs 641 million will be laid. Same day.

Sawant also said that the government is working towards achieving zero carbon emissions label by 2050 and electric vehicles will be given priority.

He said that experience certificate or teaching certificate will be mandatory to apply for jobs in both government and private sectors.

The Chief Minister said that the government is working in a planned manner to make the state carbon free by 2050.

Earlier, the Chief Minister unfurled the national flag, the police band played the national anthem and the police honor guard gave the national salute.

The Chief Minister inspected the parade of students and police.

The Chief Minister presented the President’s Police Medal to Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh, IPS for his distinguished service. Northern Superintendent of Police Nidhin Valsan, IPS was awarded the Chief Minister’s Police Gold Medal for his meritorious service and Margao Deputy Superintendent of Police (DYSP) Santosh Desai was awarded the Police Medal for his meritorious service.

Swayampurna Mitra was also honored for her contribution during the Swayampurna Goa 2.0 programme. Similarly, awards like State Agricultural Award, Social Worker Award and Best Employee Award were given in the categories of people with visual disability, physical disability and hearing disability.

Among those who attended the ceremony were Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar, Revenue Minister Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate and Chief Secretary Punit Kumar Goyal.

The event also saw participation from many other government officials, social workers, teachers and students.
