Goa: Notice to 2 eateries on wastage of water

Panaji: Margao Municipal Council (MMC) on Wednesday issued show cause notices to two restaurants and a housing society for allegedly releasing “untreated waste water” into public drains in the city.

“They released untreated water into public drains as their domestic sewage system had failed due to blockage. We have asked them to take necessary measures and stop releasing water into drains and fix their sewage system as soon as possible,” said a senior MMC official.

He said that if they do not follow the instructions, the MMC will cut off the water and power supply lines of their establishments.

He further said that the MMC will consider launching a campaign to check whether other commercial establishments or housing complexes are releasing waste water into public drains and take appropriate action against them.
