Goa: Sesa FA wins thrilling match against Churchill Brothers
Raya: Churchill Brothers FC suffered a 1-2 defeat against Sesa Football Academy at the SAG Ground in Benaulim on Monday in the Goa Professional League.
Churchill Brothers now have 12 points from 10 matches, while Sesa FA have taken it to 16 points from nine matches with their win and share the same points with FC Goa, which had won against Calangute Association.
In a thrilling encounter, Sessa FA showed resilience and won with goals from Chaitan Dabholkar (9′) and Joshua D’Silva (63′), while Churchill Brothers reduced the gap through a goal from Haokip in the 58th minute. Sesa FA dominated early on, with Sridarnath’s accuracy leading to Chaitan’s goal in the ninth minute, setting the stage for an intense battle.
However, the story changed in the 58th minute when Sessa FA awarded a penalty, which was cleverly converted by Churchill Brothers’ Lunminlen Haokip, leveling the score and adding new suspense to the game.
The decisive moment came in the 63rd minute, when Rohan’s cross from the flank found Joshua inside the box, who showed composure to give Sessa FA a 2–1 lead.
Meanwhile, at the Alla Old Goa ground, Rizvon Fernandes scored the only goal, securing a crucial win for FC Goa against Calangute Association. Rizvon’s excellent performance earned him the Man of the Match award, presented by FC Goa senior team coach Manolo Marquez.
