Deoria: A shocking case of fraud under the guise of marriage has come to light in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria district. A young man’s wedding joy turned to despair before the couple could even spend their wedding night, as his newlywed bride allegedly fled with cash and jewelry. Following a complaint from the aggrieved party, the police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Two middlemen have been arrested, while the search for the alleged runaway bride is ongoing.
According to reports, the incident took place at a marriage hall in the Bhaluani area, where a young man from Haryana was married. It is reported that the match was arranged through middlemen. After discussions and mutual consent between both families, the wedding was finalized, and the rituals were performed at the marriage hall.
The bride and groom completed the wedding rituals—including the saat phere (seven circumambulations of the sacred fire)—in the presence of family and relatives. There was a celebratory atmosphere after the ceremony concluded, but the groom and his family soon suffered a major shock. It is alleged that the bride slipped away with the help of accomplices, taking ₹1.10 lakh in cash and jewelry with her.
The groom was devastated upon discovering that his bride had vanished. The family searched extensively but, finding no trace of her, contacted the police. The aggrieved party alleged that the entire incident was a pre-planned conspiracy involving the bride and certain middlemen.
Upon receiving the complaint, the police launched an investigation. Preliminary inquiries yielded crucial clues, leading to the arrest of two middlemen. The police are interrogating them to uncover the full truth and identify other members of the gang.
According to the police, the alleged runaway bride is said to be a resident of Gorakhpur district. Police teams are actively conducting raids at suspected locations to apprehend her. Officials state that the suspect will soon be arrested and the entire matter brought to light.
The police investigation is also attempting to determine whether similar incidents have been orchestrated in the past. It is suspected that this could be the work of a larger gang that targets people under the guise of marriage. The police are questioning the middlemen to gather information about the gang’s network and other members involved.
According to locals, trust plays a crucial role in a significant relationship like marriage. When fraud comes to light in such cases, the victim’s family suffers not only financial loss but also mental distress.
