Gold worth Rs 2 crore seized in airport

New Delhi. Customs officials have intercepted two passengers at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport and recovered over five kilograms of gold worth over Rs 2 crore from their possession. An official gave this information on Monday. The accused were identified as Gautam Kishore, resident of Maharashtra, and Naresh Kumar Jain, resident of Andhra Pradesh.

According to officials, the duo were caught after their flight landed at Terminal 3 on November 4 and during investigation, 5,198 grams of gold, whose total value is Rs 2,81,25,573, was recovered. “The said recovered gold has been seized under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962,” a senior customs official said. He said that the passengers have been arrested under Section 104.

Gold worth about Rs 3 crore was seized by the Customs Department at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Monday. This gold was brought by two Indian citizens from Bangkok. Which have been seized by the Custom Department at IGI Airport. According to the information, two Indian citizens brought 5198 grams of gold bars from Bangkok, the total value of which is Rs 2.81 crore. The department took action and arrested both the citizens.
