Government released list of YouTube channels, accused of spreading fake news
New Delhi: The Fact Check team of Press Information Bureau (PIB) has issued an alert regarding many YouTube issues. The team has exposed such channels spreading fake news and exposed their truth. PIB said that these channels are sharing fake news about government schemes. Apart from this, wrong and misleading information is also being spread among the people regarding accidents and disasters.
The channels whose reality has been exposed by PIB include channels like Aapke Guruji, Sansanilive, BJ News, Bharat Ekta News, GVT News, AB Bolega Bharat, Daily Study.
PIB has said that all the information given on these channels is completely wrong and misleading. Information has also been given on these channels about many such schemes of the government which have not been launched by the government nor are there any such schemes.
The Fact Check Unit issued a series of fact-checks in nine different tweet threads. In these threads, the information given by fake channels has been declared completely wrong and their reality has been explained. The big thing is that a large population of the country is connected to these channels and was in touch with them. There were more than 83 lakh subscribers on the respective YouTube channels. In this way, it has come to light that PIB has revealed the truth about these 9 YouTube channels spreading fake news.
These channels were spreading fake news against the Chief Justice, Prime Minister and Chief Election Commissioner. Fake news related to imposition of President’s rule in some states, ban on EVMs, resignation of Union Ministers, ban on Rs 200-500 notes and closure of banks were also being spread. Sources said that monetization of fake news on YouTube is a matter of concern.
Some channels made false claims of imposing President’s rule and restrictions in some states. Along with this, news about Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), resignation/death of Union Ministers, etc. were also spread. The channels provided wrong information related to the schemes and policies of the Government of India and spread false claims related to natural disasters and deaths of Indian citizens. Information like deployment of armed forces and closure of schools was also being given on these channels.
