Gurinder Chadha had a special meeting with Rekha and Kajol upon reaching Mumbai

Mumbai: Ahead of the release of her latest drama ‘Christmas Karma’, filmmaker Gurinder Chadha arrived in Mumbai to launch her next film. Arriving in the Maximum City, Gurinder celebrated the launch of designer-turned-producer Manish Malhotra’s ‘Gustakh Ishq’, which also featured Rekha, Kajol, Shabana Azmi and Karan Johar.
The ‘Bend It Like Beckham’ maker shared some fun photos on social media posing with everyone, along with the caption, “Arrived in #mumbai to launch @christmaskarmamovie and celebrate producing @manishmalhotra05’s new film @gustakh_ishq with my dear friends. As “Christmas Karma” is set to release on December 12th, Gurinder revealed what inspired her to make the film.
Revealing how her Christmas festivities begin with a special family ritual, the director said that even now, she is moved to tears every Christmas after watching “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
Gurinder said, “For me, Christmas begins with my annual family ritual of taking my children to see It’s a Wonderful Life at the Prince Charles Cinema in London. Every year, I cry heartily at the end, moved by its life-affirming message. This love for classic holiday storytelling inspired Christmas Karma.
He called it “my ode to Dickens and Capra with a modern twist.”
Gurinder explained that “Christmas Karma” explores the true meaning of Christmas in today’s divided world and how kindness, empathy, and hope continue to unite hearts.
Gurinder further explained how “Christmas Karma” is connected to Sikh philosophy.
He said, “‘Living is giving’ is part of the teachings of Guru Nanak and Sikhism. As a Sikh, the core message of ‘Ek on Khar’ (we are all one) held immense significance for me in making my film.”
