Gurugram: Store owner molested a woman and threatened to kill her, FIR lodged

GURUGRAM: The owner of a furniture showroom has been accused of stalking, molesting and threatening a 23-year-old woman who had approached him for a job, police said on Wednesday. An FIR was lodged against the accused Mahesh Goyal at Sector 5 police station on May 27, police said. He had also threatened to kill the woman. The victim told PTI-language that the police have not yet taken any action against the accused. He is continuously threatening her. According to the police, the woman has said in her complaint that she was looking for a job and approached Goyal, owner of Shri Krishna Furniture at Atul Kataria Chowk. The complaint said the woman contacted Goyal on May 16 and was asked to meet him at the showroom. On the pretext of taking an interview, the man took her to his office, where he allegedly molested her.
The woman somehow escaped from there and returned home. Late that night, Goyal started calling the woman and asked her to come to the furniture store the next day. When she reached there, the accused forcibly took her in his car to his apartment near Subhash Chowk, the complainant said. Goyal allegedly tried to rape her at his house and threatened to kill her when she kept screaming. He then dropped her near her house, the woman said. The complaint said that after the incident, the accused called her several times daily and followed her. “I fell sick and was hospitalised for several days and finally approached the police,” the victim said. An FIR was lodged against Goyal under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman), 354-A (sexual harassment), 354-B (assault with intent to disrobe a woman), 354-D (stalking) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, police said. The victim told PTI, “An FIR was lodged on my complaint on May 27 but even after 10 days, the police have not taken any action against the accused, who is constantly threatening me. I want justice.” A senior police officer said a team is verifying the facts of the case and action will be taken accordingly.
