‘Damini’, released in 1993, created a stir, Meenakshi praised Rishi
Director Rajkumar Santoshi’s film ‘Damini’, released in 1993, was a superhit. It featured Rishi Kapoor, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Sunny Deol and Amrish Puri in lead roles. Rishi played the role of Meenakshi’s husband. The pairing of both was very much liked. Sunny also received a lot of applause as a lawyer. Sunny gives justice to ‘Damini’s maid. Now Meenakshi has once again reminded the fans of this film.
Meenakshi said in an interview to Radio Nasha that everyone adores Sunny in ‘Damini’ but I adore Chintu ji (Rishi Kapoor) a lot. I feel that even though he did not get big dialogues in the film, the work he did was amazing. Hats off to him for the intensity with which he played the character.
Only he could do this. Even though the writer did not do justice to his character, he made this character memorable on his own. It is noteworthy that Meenakshi, who gave many hit films in the 80s and 90s, disappeared from the film industry after marriage in 1995. Her last release was ‘Ghatak’ with Sunny.
