Hardik Pandya will take command of Mumbai Indians in 2024
Indian star cricketer Hardik Pandya is going to captain Mumbai Indians in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), replacing Rohit Sharma after 10 years of captaincy.
Gujarat Titans won IPL 2022 under the leadership of Hardik. Two years later, he was traded back to Mumbai Indians.
On handing over the captaincy to Hardik Pandya, Mahela Jayawardene said, “This is part of staying true to the Mumbai Indians philosophy of building a legacy and being future-ready. From Sachin to Harbhajan and Ricky to Rohit, MI has always had exceptional leadership who have always had an eye on contributing to the success as well as strengthening the team for the years to come. Keeping this philosophy in mind, Hardik Pandya will take over the captaincy of Mumbai Indians for IPL 2024.
Hardik Pandya led Gujarat to the IPL title in 2022 in his debut season and was the player of the match in the final against Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In 2023, GT made the IPL final for the second time in as many seasons, where they finished as runners-up to Chennai Super Kings.
