Haridwar: Fake currency network busted ahead of Kanwar Yatra
Uttarakhand: Police and administration have intensified security preparations for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra in Haridwar. Meanwhile, police have uncovered a major conspiracy and busted a counterfeit currency network. Police have taken action and arrested four people from Punjab. They recovered 169 counterfeit currency notes in denominations of ₹500 each.
According to police, the four arrested accused are residents of Punjab. They include a father and their two sons. Police are now investigating the extent of this counterfeit currency network and how many more people may be involved.
Major police action ahead of Kanwar Yatra
The Kanwar Yatra is scheduled to begin in Haridwar on July 30th. During this period, millions of devotees from across the country arrive in Haridwar. In view of the massive crowds, the police administration has strengthened security arrangements.
This counterfeit currency network was discovered during a special operation conducted by the police ahead of the Kanwar Yatra. Police say they are maintaining constant surveillance to prevent any criminal activity during the journey.

Searching for the Source of the Counterfeit Notes
The police’s biggest challenge is to reach the true source of the counterfeit notes. Investigating officers are trying to determine where these counterfeit notes originated and how they were transported to Haridwar.
