On December 28, there was a discussion about blocking the buses of Haryana Roadways. Employee leaders clarified that the union has also conducted a signature campaign on 26-27 October regarding the demands.
The general public and students have protested against the government’s privatization policies by signing 5 lakh signatures in two days at bus stands against issuing private permits on 265 routes. The government wants to hand over public transport services to private hands. There is no demand from the public nor from the roadways employees for granting private permits.
The government should withdraw the private policy and purchase 10 thousand government buses and include them in the roadways fleet. This will provide safe service to the general public as well as increase the government’s revenue and thousands of unemployed youth will get permanent employment. Employee leaders said that they will not allow privatization of roadways nor will they allow permits to be issued to private buses.
