Heartfelt tribute paid to 16 martyrs of freedom movement in Lakhimpur district
Lakhimpur: An emotional tribute was paid to 16 martyrs of the Gana Movement or Quit India Movement in 1942 during India’s independence movement in Lakhimpur district on Wednesday. These martyrs are Monbor Nath, Kumali Devi, Khauli Devi, Kanika Devi, Chhot Nath, Tileshwari Barua, Ratan Kachari, Moniram Kachari, Mangal Kurmi, Dayal Das Panika, Mahiram Koch, Sarunath Chutia, Lerela Kachari, Kark Gaur, Kanaklata Barua and Mukunda. Death Club organized a tribute program in Tyag area of North Lakhimpur city on Wednesday evening. The program began with the lighting of hundreds of earthen lamps by prominent citizens of Lakhimpur who had gathered there from different parts of the district.
