Heavy rain expected in Tamil Nadu for the next two days

Tamil Nadu: The Regional Meteorological Center in Chennai has predicted rain in many parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on Monday and Tuesday (June 29 and 30). According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds is likely to occur in various districts of the state over the next two days due to the influence of a low-pressure area. A warning has also been issued for heavy rainfall in some hilly areas.

The latest bulletin issued by the Meteorological Department states that the weather will change due to the low-pressure area formed in and around the Bay of Bengal. Due to this influence, rainfall activity is likely to increase in many areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. People have been advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions during bad weather.

According to the department, heavy rain may occur at isolated places in the hilly areas of Coimbatore district, the Nilgiris, Dindigul, and Theni districts. Thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by strong winds are also expected in these areas. The administration has been instructed to monitor the weather conditions and make necessary preparations.

The Meteorological Department stated that light to moderate rain may be recorded in several other districts of the state. Due to the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning in some areas, people have been advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to open areas and to stay in safe places.

Amidst the possibility of rain, heat continues to affect many parts of the state. On Sunday, Madurai Airport recorded the highest temperature of 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Furthermore, Tiruvallur recorded 103.1 degrees Fahrenheit, Trichy 101.66 degrees Fahrenheit, Meenambakkam in Chennai, Madurai city, and Palayamkottai recorded 101.48 degrees Fahrenheit.

According to the Meteorological Department, Nagapattinam recorded a temperature of 100.94 degrees Fahrenheit, Thanjavur and Vellore 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit, and the Nungambakkam area of Chennai recorded a temperature of 100.04 degrees Fahrenheit. The department said that temperatures are expected to decrease slightly after rainfall in several places.

The Meteorological Department has also issued a special warning for coastal areas. According to the department, strong cyclonic winds are likely to blow in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, the Gulf of Mannar, and the Kumarikadal region. Wind speeds in these areas are expected to reach 60 kilometers per hour.

In view of the strong winds and adverse sea conditions, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the relevant sea areas for fishing. The Meteorological Department advised that fishermen already at sea should also continuously monitor weather conditions and return to safer locations if necessary.

The administration has also appealed to the public to follow the guidelines issued by the Meteorological Department. Those living in hilly and coastal areas, in particular, have been asked to pay attention to the latest weather information and follow the instructions of the local administration in case of any emergency.

The Meteorological Department stated that the weather in various parts of the state may change rapidly over the next two days. Therefore, citizens have been requested to avoid unnecessary travel, stay out in open spaces during lightning, and monitor official weather updates.

A low-pressure area is currently prevailing over Tamil Nadu, which is expected to intensify rainfall activity in several districts. The Meteorological Department is continuously monitoring the situation and will issue further weather bulletins as needed.
