Heavy rain in five divisions in Kothagudem, two dead in Khammam
Kothagudem: Cyclone Michong has caused extremely heavy rainfall in many divisions of the district in the last 24 minutes, causing flooding in low-lying areas and affecting normal life.
Heavy rainfall for 31 minutes was recorded in Aswaraopet division from 8.30 am. M. By 8:30 am on Tuesday M. on Wednesday. Maddukuru in Chandragonda mandal recorded 30.8 min rainfall.
Similarly, many parts of Dammapet, Annapureddipalli and Kotha Gudem mandals received extremely heavy rainfall ranging from 26 cm to 21.2 cm. 12 minutes Heavy rain was recorded in nine divisions of the district.
40 sheep died due to extreme cold in Bhimavaram of Aswapuram mandal. Two gates of the Kinnerasani project in Paloncha mandal were raised to release 8,000 cusecs of additional water downstream. Surplus water is also being released from Pe Dadavagu project at Gummadavalli village in Aswaraopet mandal.
Paddy fields were flooded following a breach in the dam of the Perantala tank at Dammapet mandal headquarters. Standing crops in thousands of acres were affected due to accumulation of rain water in agricultural areas. Coal production in open cast mines of SCCL came to a standstill.

In a statement, Superintendent of Police Dr Vineet Ji said that vehicular movement was restricted on many roads in Damppet, Aswaraopet, Sujatha Nagar, Julurpad, Asabhar and Mulakalapalli mandals due to rain water flowing on the roads.
Precautionary measures such as placing barricades on flooded roads were taken to prevent people from crossing them. The SP said that people should cooperate with the police to avoid any untoward incident due to heavy rains.
Two died in Khammam
Very heavy rainfall occurred in 10 divisions, while moderate to heavy rainfall occurred in other divisions. A couple, N Pulla Ra and Lakshmi, died after a wall collapsed at Cheruvu Madaram village in Nelakondapalli mandal.
