Heavy rain warning: Disaster relief teams ready
Tamil Nadu: The government has stated that disaster relief teams are on standby and will monitor the situation through emergency centers, as heavy rainfall is expected in several districts of Tamil Nadu on Monday.
A government press release on this matter: Due to an upper-level circulation formed in the southwest Bay of Bengal near southern Sri Lanka, heavy rainfall is expected across Tamil Nadu on Monday. The Meteorological Department has warned that very heavy rainfall is likely in places like Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Kanyakumari.
Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, and surrounding areas.
Regarding this, the respective district collectors have been instructed to take necessary precautionary measures.
Additionally, as a precautionary measure, two teams of the Tamil Nadu Disaster Response Force have been deployed in Thoothukudi district and one in Tirunelveli district for rescue and relief operations.
The press release stated that the State Emergency Operations Centre is continuously monitoring the situation as a heavy rainfall warning has been issued.
