Himachal: 100 law students from across the country participated in Solan University festival

Himachal Pradesh: The Centre for Clinical Legal Education (CCLE) at the Faculty of Legal Sciences, Shoolini University recently organised a three-day National Law Festival 3.0, which was attended by over 100 delegates representing law colleges and universities from across India. The festival aimed to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical legal training. The event began with a welcome address by Nandan Sharma, Associate Dean, Faculty of Legal Sciences. Rajeev Chauhan, Professor of Practice, conducted a session to guide the participants on the rules and regulations governing the competitions, thereby creating a focused atmosphere for the festival. Preeti Saxena, Vice Chancellor, Himachal Pradesh National Law University, delivered an address as the Chief Guest at the event, encouraging law students to maintain ethics and continuous learning in their professional journey.

Piyush Verma, President, Himachal Pradesh High Court Bar Association, as the Chief Guest, shared insights on the role of law students in addressing societal challenges, and emphasised the need for intellectual rigour in the age of advanced artificial intelligence. The festival held several competitions including Moot Court, Crime Scene Investigation, PIL Drafting, Blog Writing, Case Commentary Writing and Legal Opinion Writing. Renowned judges, advocates, academicians and forensic experts evaluated the performances of the participants. The Moot Court Competition was won by Asian Law College, Noida, Uttar Pradesh; while Mangalatyan University, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh bagged the runner-up position. Sevita School of Law, Tamil Nadu was recognised for the Best Memorial; and Manipal University, Jaipur was named the Best Speaker.

In the Crime Scene Investigation Competition, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla bagged the first position demonstrating exceptional investigation skills. Amity University, Punjab bagged the runner-up position with its systematic approach to problem-solving. In the Blog Writing Competition, KIIT School of Law, Odisha won for its well-researched and lucid entry. Osmania University, Hyderabad bagged the runner-up position for its insightful presentation. Chandigarh University, Chandigarh topped the Legal Opinion Writing Competition, while Auro University, Gujarat bagged the runner-up position for its precise and insightful analysis.

The PIL Drafting Competition was dominated by BR Ambedkar National Law University, Haryana, whose petition demonstrated strong drafting skills. OP Jindal Global University, Sonepat bagged the runner-up position with an impressive presentation. Integral University, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh won the Case Commentary Writing Competition, presenting a detailed analysis of complex legal issues. Jharkhand Rai University, Jharkhand bagged the runner-up title for its structured and insightful commentary. Renu Pal Sood, Convener and Director, Centre for Clinical Legal Education, presented a detailed report on the three-day fest, acknowledging the contributions of the participants, judges and organisers.
