Himachal: Governor pulled the historic chariot, inaugurated the folk dance festival

Himachal Pradesh: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla pulled the historic rath (wooden chariot) during the International Kullu Dussehra festival here today. He, along with his wife Janaki Shukla, also offered prayers at the Raghunath Ji Shivir Mandir and visited the Shivir temples of other deities at Dhalpur ground. Emphasising the importance of the festival, Shukla said, “Such festivals preserve the traditions and rich cultural heritage of Devbhoomi. It is the good fortune of the residents of the state that Lord Raghunath resides in Kullu. May his blessings remain on us and we continue to carry forward our Dev Sanskriti in this way.” Later, the Governor inaugurated exhibitions put up by various government departments, boards, corporations and other non-government organisations. He visited the stalls and appreciated the exhibitions. The Governor inaugurated the week-long International Folk Dance Festival by offering prayers and lighting lamps at Kala Kendra in the evening.

He said that the Dussehra festival, famous for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance, symbolises the victory of good over evil and the victory of Dharma. He urged the local residents to preserve these traditions for the prosperity of the state. The Governor said Himachal Pradesh is known for its pristine beauty and it is the collective responsibility of the government and the residents to keep their surroundings clean and protect the natural resources. “May this festival strengthen the bond of our unity, bring prosperity to our state and inspire us to work towards a brighter and peaceful future,” he said. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri also participated in the Rath Yatra. Agnihotri said the event is remarkable and it is a privilege to be a part of the ‘Dev Maha Kumbh’. He said diplomats from various countries have been invited to give suggestions for the development of the region. Earlier, Kullu Dussehra Festival Committee Chairman and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sunder Singh Thakur welcomed the Governor and other guests.
