Himachal: Governor unhappy with inappropriate invitation
Himachal Pradesh: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has expressed displeasure over the “inappropriate” invitation extended by the Shimla Municipal Corporation to the function organised in Shimla today on the death anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar. Pointing to the lapse in protocol, the Governor said, “An invitation card was sent, in which the Chief Minister was mentioned as the chief guest of the function. So, how could I go to the function.” The Governor said that no one from the Municipal Corporation contacted him regarding the function. He said, “I don’t know what they were doing. I have paid tribute to Dr Ambedkar at the Raj Bhawan.” Meanwhile, Shimla Municipal Corporation Mayor Surendra Chauhan said that an invitation card was sent to the Raj Bhawan and the card was received there. Chauhan said, “I don’t know why this confusion happened. We all have deep respect for the Governor and I will go to the Raj Bhawan, if necessary, to clear the misunderstanding.”
