Himachal: Three including a woman arrested with chitta

Himachal Pradesh: In a major crackdown on cross-border drug smuggling, Indora police arrested three persons including a young woman in Tamouta village of Kangra district and recovered 21.7 grams of heroin (“chitta”) and cash from them. Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashok Ratan, who heads the Nurpur and Dharamshala police districts, said the action was taken after receiving information about drug smuggling from residential areas near the Punjab border. A team led by SHO Indora Ashish Pathania acted promptly and raided the village and arrested the accused.

During the search, police recovered 7.80 grams of heroin from Kans Raj, 6.39 grams from Pallavi and 7.60 grams from Janak Raj, both residents of Tamouta. Besides, Rs 10,500 cash was also recovered from Janak Raj. The SP confirmed that the three have a criminal history and have been booked earlier under the NDPS Act and other cases. Now a new NDPS case has been registered against them at the Indora police station. The accused were produced in a local court, from where they were sent to two-day police custody.
