Himani Shivpuri recalls the tongue twister of ‘Kabhi Khushi, Kabhi Gham’ on Hindi Diwas
Mumbai (IANS). Actress Himani Shivpuri, famous for playing various characters on screen, on the occasion of Hindi Diwas said how the tongue twister from the film ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ had become extremely popular among the youth.
Hindi Diwas is celebrated for its wide appeal and deep attachment in the hearts of millions of people. Apart from its everyday use, Hindi offers a world of fun and entertainment, especially through its famous tongue twisters, which adds a playful dimension to the appeal of the language.
Talking about Hindi Diwas, Himani shared, “Hindi is popular not only in India but across the world. Being the daughter of a Hindi and Sanskrit professor, I have a deep connection with this language. As an artiste, I feel very proud when it is used in Indian songs, bhajans, by various popular rap and pop music artists.
Taking a trip down memory lane, Himani said, “There was a famous tongue twister in my film ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ which says, ‘Chandu ke chacha ne, Chandu ki chachi ko, Chandni-chowk mein, Chandni raat mein, Served chutney with a silver spoon. It became extremely popular, and I remember all the kids and teens using it in their games, challenging each other to say it as fast as they could.”
Himani said, “It also resulted in a famous album, which became a huge hit.”
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is a 2001 family drama film written and directed by Karan Johar. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee.
Himani said, “Hindi is indeed a wonderful language to learn and today’s children should learn it and enjoy it.”
The actress can currently be seen as Katori Amma in the sitcom ‘Happu Ki Ultan Paltan’, which airs on &TV.
