Historic Ram procession held in Bareilly on the occasion of Holi

Bareilly: Holika will be burnt at 1400 places in Bareilly on Sunday, while Holika will be burnt at a total of 3500 places in the district. Before this, a historic ancient Ram Baraat was also taken out in the city. There was such a rain of Holi colors in the Ram Baraat that took place on the traditional route that everyone got drenched. During the procession, the paramilitary force remained with the entire route. Apart from police and PAC, ambulance and fire brigade are also moving along. Social media is also being closely monitored.
One part of the Ram Baraat starts from Malukpur in Qila and the other part starts from Chahbai in Premnagar and is found in Bada Bazaar. Both the journeys meet in the afternoon. Last year, due to the construction of Qutub Khana bridge, the route of the wedding procession was changed by two hundred meters, but this time it is going through the traditional route only.
Under the leadership of SP City Rahul Bhati, about eight hundred police personnel, two companies, one platoon PAC and two companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed along with the procession. To maintain peace during Holika Dahan, police from the respective police stations are being deployed everywhere. Members of Holika Dahan Safety Committee have also been given responsibilities. On the day of Holi, paramilitary forces and PAC personnel will conduct route marches in areas with mixed population in urban areas.
Nine fire engines were deployed
Nine vehicles of the fire brigade will be present with the Ram Baraat from the beginning till the end of the procession. FSO Sanjeev Kumar has deployed some vehicles in front of the procession and some vehicles have been parked at the points of the procession. Staff has been deployed on every vehicle. All the vehicles have been kept ready after filling them with water and will reach their designated points in the morning. Five vehicles have been deployed during Holika Dahan and two vehicles have also been deployed in the Narasimha procession proposed on Monday.
SP City Rahul Bhati said that complete preparations have been made for Ram Baraat. The procession will be taken out amid heavy security. Police force will also be deployed on rooftops in sensitive areas. Besides, surveillance will also be done through drones. If anyone tries to misbehave, he will be sent to jail.
Ram Baraat started one and a half century ago
Bamanpuri’s Ramlila held in the city on the occasion of Holi is 164 years old. In this sequence, Ram Baraat is also taken out. Ram Leela Committee spokesperson Vishal Mehrotra said that it was started as Phalgun Mahotsav on Holi. Then some pundits and scholars told that the description of Lord Ram’s leela and songs on Holi is found in Tulsi Das ji’s Vinay Patrika.
Ramlila was started here on the same basis. At that time the stage etc. was not concrete. The stage of Ramlila was made in the square outside Shri Narasimha Temple by placing thrones on big drums. The situation is the same even today, there is no permanent platform here. Gradually this Ram Leela started taking a grand form. With this, the tradition of taking out Ram Baraat started, which has taken a historic form today.
