IIT Bombay hostel live cartridge case: Powai police arrest second accused from Ujjain

Maharashtra: Powai police have arrested the second accused in the case of live cartridges found in a hostel room at IIT Bombay campus. Prashantraj Yadav, 24, was arrested while returning from a religious tour in Ujjain.

The accused allegedly shared photos of the weapon.

A real estate agent from Bihar, he allegedly shared photos of the weapons with 23-year-old Sarvottam Chaudhary, who was arrested earlier. Yadav has been remanded in judicial custody. On February 19, five live 7.65 mm cartridges were found in the room of Chaudhary’s friend, Apoorva Mishra, a first-year BTech student. Apoorva had previously stated that Mishra had brought the cartridges.

According to the police, interrogation revealed that Mishra had kept the cartridges to impress other students and attract attention, not to harm anyone.

Chaudhary and Yadav had also discussed purchasing the weapons, but the deal was not finalized.
